Janet McBride
Janet McBride is a TV producer, writer and archive film consultant based in London and Surrey. Over the past 20 years, she has worked with all the major broadcasters in the UK mainly in comedy, entertainment and factual entertainment. She has been a producer, series producer and executive producer and is well known for her work on archive and clip shows. She is also into military history and archival research and has recently produced a prestigious live music event at Westminster Hall - inside the Houses of Parliament.
I am an experienced Television Series Producer who has worked on some major projects for all the main broadcasters. I'm also a very efficient and creative Edit Producer and script writer. I've spent most of my career in Entertainment and Comedy and have recently been working in Daytime Factual too. As a Series Producer I've taken projects from development to delivery but am also happy to slot into a team as Producer or Edit Producer. I've produced studio shows, directed on location and am also an expert in archive based programming and clip shows.
SOME ACHIEVEMENTS:
A COMMONWEALTH CARNIVAL OF MUSIC (live music event)Leading a team of volunteers and negotiating with Parliamentary Authorities, and a variety of sponsors, donors and stakeholders, I produced a live music event in Westminster Hall - inside the Houses of Parliament. The event was a centre-piece of Westminster's Diamond Jubilee celebrations and featured choirs, orchestras and dancers from all over the Commonwealth. Logistically and creatively very complex, the Carnival proved to be a huge success.I also designed, created and wrote the website and souvenir brochure and was responsible for social media and PR.
TV'S NAUGHTIEST BLUNDERS (ITV1) Rebranded and produced this ITV1 ad hoc special, turning it into a long-running profitable series which regularly won its slot and ran continuously for over three years.
KIRSTY'S HOME VIDEOS (SKY ONE) Series produced Sky Oneâs first home-grown production to achieve a 5% audience share. The flag-ship series was re-commissioned four times and won a number of awards. TRIC AWARDS (Best Satellite TV Programme, Best Sataellite TV Personality) HOUSTON INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (Best Entertainment Production)
BRITAIN IN THE 90s (BLIGHTY) Conceived, developed, produced and wrote 10 x 52 min episodes on a low budget in under 6 months.
BADDIEL AND SKINNER'S FANTASY WORLD CUP 98 (ITV1) Built worldwide relationships, put systems in place and managed the teams which enabled this successful ITV1 series to secure high quality material, cleared and ready to use to very short deadlines.
DEVELOPMENT & TEAM MANAGEMENT (AVALON TV & ITV1) Developed projects and recruited the creative teams which enabled Avalon TV's output to grow from one or two productions a year to a huge slate of productions and a multi-million pound turnover.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT (AVALON TV & ITV1) Responsible for multi-million pound budgets over a number of different projects as Executive Producer at ITV Entertainment and Head of Production at Avalon TV.
